今天早上在車上聽ICRT，DJ Terry提到母親節快到了，放了一首應景的歌曲：Three Dog Night的《Mama Told Me Not To Come》/ 1970，但我覺得這種曲風對年輕朋友來說，恐怕聽不來。其實我腦中所想到的應景曲是Paul Simon的《Mother And Child Reunion》( 母子重歡 ) 及John Lennon的《Mother》，但這兩首「亂談」之前都已貼過，既然如此，就來貼這首大開岳母玩笑的《Mother-In-Law》吧！



此曲為美國詞曲作家、編曲和唱片製作人Allen Toussaint所寫，由美國黑人歌手Ernie K-Doe錄唱發行。其實這首歌在試錄了幾次不成功後，製作人兼鋼琴手的Toussaint氣得將曲譜揉成一團丟在地下，這其中包含了低音合音歌手Benny Spellman和主唱Ernie K-Doe之間的爭辯，應由誰負責先來開唱前導，最後由另位合音歌手Willie Hopper充當和事佬，歌曲才順利錄製完成。

此曲於1961同時登上了告示牌熱門及R&B排行榜的冠軍，而這也是Ernie K-Doe唯一的一首冠軍曲，甚至在他往後的演唱生涯，只有兩首歌曲入榜前40名。

歌曲講的是男子認為岳母看不順眼他，愛管閒事又嘮叨，倘岳母消失不見，將才會是個快樂的家。還好Allen Toussaint寫這首歌時尚單身未娶，否則真不知要如何的來面對岳母了。
