前兩天，在電影台又看到重播的《絕配冤家》( How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days )，而且正好是男女主角馬修麥康納、凱特哈德森在宴會上大唱這首《You're So Vain》，由於歌詞和劇情有些吻合，故雖然倆人都是大走音，感覺也頗有趣。
這首《You're So Vain》是美國女歌手Carly Simon於1972推出的自寫自唱曲，除了登上流行榜的冠軍寶座，也在告示牌歷來最佳歌曲中排名第82。不過，大家更有興趣的是：想知道歌曲中這位如此「自負」( 或許想成是「臭屁」更為來得傳神？ ) 的男士到底是誰？
被揣測上榜的男士有Warren Beatty ( 演員 )，身份為歌手兼作曲家的有Kris Kristofferson和Cat Stevens，另外一位則是滾石樂團的主唱Mick Jagger。這幾位男士都曾經和Carly Simon有些曖昧的互動牽扯。

1983，Carly Simon說，歌中的人物絕對不是Mick Jagger，因為他也參與了這首歌的合音而並未掛名 ( 仔細點聽，在間奏之前及後段的確都有像Mick Jagger的男聲。 )。由於經常被人追問，Carly Simon曾透露歌曲的主角名字有「A」、「E」、「R」這三個字母；甚至在2003提出願意將歌曲的主角告知在「瑪莎葡萄園島之可能的夢想慈善拍賣」( Martha's Vineyard Possible Dreams charity auction ) 的得標者，但條件是不得再洩露給他人，結果是由CBS Sports的總裁Dick Ebersol以5萬美元得標。
在2007的一次訪談中，Warren Beatty自動對號入座，說：「Let's be honest. That song was about me.」( 其實Beatty在很早之前就已打過電話給Simon，認為這首歌就是在說他。)。2015，Carly Simon在促銷即將發行的傳記時說，歌詞的第二段的確是Warren Beatty，其他部份則為另外兩人。到底是哪兩人？迄今仍為迷團。
