此曲的原歌名為《I Want to lay Down Beside You》，Rick Danko將之重新編曲錄唱並收錄在其1977發行的首張同姓名的專輯中。
Rick Danko之前為The Band ( 樂隊合唱團 ) 的貝士手。The Band早期是美國搖滾歌手Ronnie Hawkins的伴奏樂團，稱之為Hawks。由於Hawkins長期以加拿大為活動範圍，故Hawks的成員除鼓手Levon Helm外，其餘皆為加籍。1963年末，樂團與Hawkins在理念上有些不合，雙方分道揚鑣。1965，經熟人推薦，Bob Dylan親赴加拿大去聽Hawks的演唱，隨後聘請Hawks擔任他美國巡演的伴奏樂團。1967 / 10，Hawks與Dylan的合作結束開始自立門戶，但對各個新團名未有共識，由於與Dylan合作期間，大家都稱他們為The Band，故一直沿用作為團名。
The Band有多首經典知名的歌曲，像是《 The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down》、《The Weight》、《I Shall be Released》等等。其所建立的鄉村搖滾的風格，不僅替後來的老鷹合唱團( Eagles ) 鋪了路，也對當代的音樂人如Eric Clapton、George Harrison等產生了重大的影響。1976，The Band舉辦了一場告別音樂演唱會--The Last Waltz。1977，雖然部分團員不太情願，但在吉他手Robbie Robertson的主導下( 這位老兄看來是樂團的老大 )，The Band還真的解散了。
看此曲的歌詞，邏輯上不太能理解，既然對方不是自己的菜，又何必要躺在一起？還想要生孩子？說必須一起喝點酒，或許是為了「酒醉卡自然」吧！呵呵。1999，Rick Danko在家中因心臟衰竭於睡夢中去世，享年55歲。
