We are greatly disturbed by the chocking news that the staff of the Stockholm Far Eastern Library will be reduced to a single person lacking training in librarianship!

The Far Eastern Library in Stockholm is internationally known as one of the greatest sinological research libraries in Europe. The reduction of its staff will mean that the library no longer can serve in its original function. This is indeed a great blow not only to Swedish Sinology, but to the sinological field at large.　

As the entire civilized world know very well, Swedish government has been renowned for its remarkable history and achievement in the preservation of cultural heritage, as well as promotion of human civilization regardless, of its cultural or geographical origins. It is therefore particularly disappointing, that such blatant disregard for the normal functionality of a great library is witnessed on the Swedish soil. May we suggest that appropriate actions are taken to exempt the Stockholm Far Eastern Library from the financial hardship, which is the direct culprit of this profoundly regrettable situation.

Your attention to this matter is most appreciated.

Dear Prime Minister:

While most countries across the world are dedicating
themselves to the
preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and
human civilization, it
is regrettable to hear that the Swedish authorities are
going the opposite
way: imperiling the normal functions of the Stockholm
Far Eastern Library by
putting this great cultural asset in financially
straitened circumstances.

As conscientious intellectuals of the global society,
we would like to
request your Excellency’s attention to the importance

坦白說
我讀到這個消息
開始寫信的時候
已經趕稿趕到眼睛快睜不開了
看到 chocking 這個字
也不覺得有什麼不對勁
因為我當時一直以為是 choking
想說這字用在這裡好猛好傳神啊
不就是我在回留言時經常說的
嘴裡的茶全噴出來了嗎
所以就很開心的完全沒有察覺任何不對勁
哈哈

瑞典人頭一次最使我chocking的經驗，說來好笑。瑞典人臉部表情冷靜，不輕易嘻笑，女人與年輕的男人有一種獨特的表情就是話語的句尾，輕輕地倒抽一口氣，我一直不明白他們為何老是吃驚，住了大半年以後，慢慢聽出一些對話，越想越狐疑，終於我開口問她們，那樣倒抽一口氣吃驚是為啥？原來這個表情是“肯定”與加強語氣的作用，並不是chocking，真相大白以後，還真使我大吃一驚。

也是覺得好傳神
朋友跟我說時, 我還問她會不會是 choking

文芬說的也好神奇
如果在台灣, 倒吸一口氣完全不是那麼一回事

寫完以後察覺自己再一次筆誤，瑞典語的“震驚”名詞原形是chock，指定式字尾+en，而不是+ing〈英語系統〉，動詞“使震驚”原形是chocka，字尾是+de
我視野淺短，還沒看過瑞典人嗆到，飯桌上倒是常有人擤鼻涕，我至今未便開腔：又疑是肯定句。
