【澳洲】Grant Burge Meshach 2002

母親節的前夕，想開一隻好一點的酒，就想到要拿這隻網路上前陣子蠻熱門，而且最近似乎有些不同意見的酒款，所以想親自驗證一下，也慰勞一下老媽和老婆。

開瓶的感覺蠻好的，瓶塞狀況很不錯，很扎實，彈性很好，讓我很放心，也很慶幸。

這隻酒一開瓶的時候，香氣沒有立即展現，逐漸散發以香草的香味，大約醒了10分鐘後，果香飄出，大約是熟梅的香氣，再醒20分鐘後，開始有些咖啡香氣，也帶一點胡椒香。酒色不深，呈現寶石紅。喝的第一印象，就是酸度非常明顯而怡人，口水狂湧，入喉後，一陣暖流從胃部往上擴散，很生食慾。一開的口感以果味為主體，並帶有辛香點綴，中段後風味有往「黑」的風味跑，有甜度而不膩，甜味與作為背景的黑巧克力與柔順的單寧，經過20分鐘，就是咖啡香氣出現時，大約中段的部份，口感中會有類似「四物」的中藥香氣與一點土壤系香氣，酒體雖然不厚實，但可以感受果實的飽滿度程度相當良好，終感開始出現宜人的苦味，讓人很容易再喝一杯。

我個人很喜歡這隻酒，非常好喝，很容易一杯接一杯，而且也可以放在那裡10-20分鐘都不管，去做些家事，再回來喝，中等的酒體，不肥美的風格，美妙的酸度與甜度，木桶系香氣包括香草、巧克力與咖啡都用配角的方式表現，單寧異常柔順，真的很好喝。

我找了一些網路的酒評，我個人是沒有財力喝Grange，所以也不知道這隻是否有實力稱為The Next Grange，不過真的很好喝，會唰嘴，會生口水，會有暖流從胃逆流，會讓人一直喝。

我個人的評價非常接近亞柏的紀錄，我也覺得這隻酒還有發展的實力，不過現在就可以喝了。

如果有朋友喝到狀況不好的，很可能就是在大賣場買酒的風險：保存問題。我的第一支應該是比較幸運的～

An elegant Meshach, but no shrinking violet, either. Very intense and assertively oaked, with dark plums, blackcurrants and dark chocolate backed by toasty aromas of vanilla, coconut ice, cedar and cigarboxes, it’s also perfumed and floral. Surprisingly fine, elegant and seamless, its palate is saturated with jammy black and red berry flavours and supported by fine, firm tannins of genuine strength. Tim White wrote in the Australian Financial Review ‘…The quality was astounding…’ of the master-class of back, current and future vintages of Meshach. A special mention was also made about the back vintages of 1991, 1995 and 1998, as well as the future release….2004 & 2005!!
Ken Gargett at the Courier Mail writes ‘… the 2002 Meshach is tight, youthful … seamless, layered, long and concentrated, it has oodles of potential.’ Ken states his view has always been that if a winery is making brilliant wines at the highest level then there is every chance that they are doing good things throughout the range.
Mike Burnett of The Launceston Examiner wrote … ‘...Mr Burge can be assured that he will be remembered as the creator of one of Australia’s great wines. Meshach can now fittingly be mentioned in the same sentence as Penfolds Grange, Hill of Grace and The Armagh when talking about Australia’s shiraz elite.’
Grant Burge Meshach Shiraz $100. Barossa Winemaker Grant Burge reckons this is the best wine he has ever produced. Only time will tell, but he may well be right. Named after his great grandfather Meshach, it picked up the trophy for best medium-bodied dry red at the 2007 Sydney International Wine Competition. Big, bold and beautiful; it shows intense, rich black berry, plum and spices on the nose that flow onto the palate, integrated vanillan oak characters and silky tannins. 上禮拜六有看到2003, 價格好像是16XX, 2002這支我也有開, 雖然已經可以喝了, 但是覺得還有得放, 不是很澳洲的酒, 達人學苑那邊要辦Two Hands有興趣嗎? 我還再協調請岳父母帶小孩看看能否夫婦一塊去.

今天去好市多與大潤發一趟，這隻酒2003年的價格和2002年的一樣，都是1849。今天最大的收穫，就是一隻酒也沒有買～

if you have a chance, try the 2005 Grant Burge Shadrach. Although it is not as complex as the 03 Meshach, Shadrach comes with more fruit (plum, berry) that reflect its varietal flavours. Well balanced and long finish. Tasted both in Grant Burge cellar door, i love the Shadrach. Both are good wines from Grant Burge. They use ”hearts” to make good wines.

03 Meshach在台灣的好市多還有蠻多的，很幸運Grant Burge是和好市多合作，或許以後有機會喝到05 Shadrach。
