此曲為北愛爾蘭歌手兼詞曲作家Van Morrison自寫自唱，收錄於其1970的專輯《Moondance》以及1974的現場專輯《It's Too Late To Stop Now》中。

歌曲述說的是一名船員，要回到他愛人的身邊，但當聽到霧號聲 ( 通常因天候起霧、視線不佳，岸上的燈塔也會發出霧號。)，這表示離陸地 ( 家 ) 不遠了，但也極其危險，因稍有不慎，判斷錯誤，船就會撞上礁岩。有人將霧號想成是「死亡的召喚」，但也不能因此而畏懼，若不勇往直前，怎能突破困境或知道最後的結果呢？此對愛情亦然。此曲原名《Into The Misty》，但Van Morrison為了讓聽者有更多的想像及詮釋的空間，而將Misty改成了Mystic。

依據英國廣播公司 ( BBC ) 的調查，由於此曲有讓人冷靜、舒緩氛圍的效果，是外科醫師在手術時最普遍愛收聽的歌曲之一 ( 真的假的？)。倒是有許多人，尤其是對生活不甚如意或是正遭遇挫折的人，對此曲特別的有感觸，認為具有勵志及撫慰心靈的療效。
