Scarborough Fair 史卡博羅市集

世界上充滿了歌，有的歌曲聽了沒感覺，有的歌曲聽完會感傷；有的歌曲在某些時候聽了沒感覺，有些時候聽完會感傷，只是當時已惘然！

 

1967年的畢業生(The Graduate)老電影，主題曲之一，Scarborough Fair，史卡博羅市集，淡淡的感傷中道盡畢業生的徬徨。(另外一首是Sound of Silence，也當另外說！)雖然說電影已經是風韻猶存的老派。但是，要了解電影所敘述時空背景，才能理解電影主角徬徨的心理以及面對的人生。

歌詞中的史卡博羅市集是中古世紀以來的交易會，來自英格蘭與歐洲大陸的商人，都會聚集在史卡博羅市集進行交易。另外，第二句的「Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme」，感覺好像在菜市場隨便抓幾把香草植物，包括香芹、鼠尾草、迷迭香與百里香等。但是，如果了解這些香草植物的意義，對於歌詞的意境，當更能掌握其隱含的意義。Parsley香芹 (Petroselinum crispum) 、Sage鼠尾草 (Salvia officinalis)、Rosemary迷迭香 (Rosmarinus officinalis)和Thyme百里香 (Thymus vulgaris)等。這些香草植物，蘊含希望力量支撐度過彼此不在身旁的時光，在寂寞中對彼此保持忠貞，與具備勇氣來完成任務，而最後能夠團聚。
