Thoughts on The Lincoln Lawyer

Again, I finished reading another novel, The Lincoln Lawyer.

This novel has been made to a movie with the same name and
already came off the movie theater on the time of this post. It
will probably make to the second round soon. So if you are
interested, make it quick to second round and enjoy it or you
may have to wait probably 1 to 2 months on DVDs.

I personally did not read this novel until I finished going
to this movie and afterwards felt compelled to read the original.

This book is a page-turner and the movie is excellent, too.
Although I found some extras and disparities on the movie that
were not written in the book, still it fits very well to make a
good movie out of a good book. The excitement and thrill
throughout the book glued me to it without even pause. All I
wanted to do was turning the page and kept reading , reading
and reading.

So what is the book all about ?

It starts with one case, one scary case with an innocent
man. How could innocence be scary at all ? For innocence is a
rare commodity, it allows no buffer, no plea, no bargaining,
especially for a defense attorney ,mostly referred to as the
speaker of the evil. Not guilty is the only verdict, the only
way out. And it scares and bites the most for you can never
tell who's innocent and who's not. One mistake, one simple
mistake could take you a lifetime regretting over what you did.

Therefore, the main character(Micky Haller), with the thorny
case in hand, has followed lead after lead, one lie after
another just to see a dead case which should have been settled
years ago rising from the past and started to chase him into
the dead end, cornered and desperate.

Alarming similarities between cases now and then, an
unexpected death of his own investigator, also a close friend,
fear for his inability to discern the evil and the innocent
and all of these bother Micky.

Struggle between now and then, right and wrong, bounded by
the law, bar, his own conscience and personal interest, Micky
fights hard to find the way out of plight he is in while at
the meantime he can make things right.

As the saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished.",
especially when people try to make things right.

Thrill, tension, a lot of mind game and manipulation plus
struggle and unexpected turn of event make it a good book and
a good movie. What seems to be a winning game may have the
unexpected consequences in the end. Also, what seems to be the
player moving things around may later surprisingly find that
he himself is also a pawn.

Interesting to read, The Lincoln Lawyer, in my humble
opinion, is really fun and enjoyable.  I highly recommend
whoever that's interested in reading English novels that this
is the book to read. For those who want to improve their
English but really bored at reading textbook, this is also a
good one to read. Learn things while you can still enjoy the
story, I don't see why not ?

Ha, that sounds a little bit I am selling the book but ,no,
I am not a salesman promoting the book but a regular guy who
just re-picks his own reading and starts to move forward,
Englishwise.

Finally, this is a book to read and I hope everyone that
picks it up can really enjoy it.

    Good day.
