The informal future

Ya, sabes el futuro.

ir  +  a   + un infinitivo, no?

Vamos a celebrar mi cumpleaños mañana.

Voy a recibir muchos regalos y tarjetas de cumpleaños.


ir + a + infinitivo, which is what we call the informal future.

The simple future

What you′ll learn today is the simple future.  It′s called the simple future for a good reason.

Mira unos ejemplos y prestar attación a las terminaciones.

El año que viene, trabajaré como contador porque me encantan las matemáticas.
Next year I′ll work as an accountant because I love math.

Siempre estudias a ley.  Serás juez or abogado.
You always study the law, you′ll be a judge or a lawyer.

En el futuro, la gente vivirá en otras galaxias.
In the future, people will live in other galaxies.

Usaremos paneles solares para la electricidad en dos años.
We′ll use solar panels for electricity in 2 years.

Viajaréis por espacio en una nave espacial.
You will travel to space in a space ship.

Serán muchos robots en el futuro.
There will be lots of robots in the future.

Encuentras ......... en el futuro.
Solamente añade las terminaciones
-é, -ás, á, -emos, -éis y -án al infinitivo.

And, you will add these endings to infinitive for all regular AR, ER and IR verbs.  No different endings for different verbs here.  You even use these endings for the irregular verbs, they′ll just have different stems.  But we will get to that at the second.

And you will use the simple future to talk about long-term or important future events. You know you can use ir + a + infinitivo

to talk about what you are going to do.

So the simple future form is used to talk about what you will or shall do.  Now, let′s take a look at those endings again.

                                Simple Future Ending

Notice that all endings except "nosotros" require a tilde.  And to remember which ending starts with "a", and which starts with an "e", just think of "A Boot". Inside the boot which you should remember from many lessons ago, you′ll use the letter "A" - A boot.  Outside the boot, you will use "E".

And remember all verbs use these endings.  So you can have
The AR, ER, IR verbs all have the exact the same yo ending.  Same with Tú.

The irregular verb

Bueno, ahola, tenemos que hablar los verbos de irregulares.  Solamente hay dos verbos irregulares y en tres categorias diferentes.

Grupo 1.
Verb where you remove the vowel from infinitive ending before adding simple future endings.  Por ejemplo,

Podremos ir de vacaciones en realidad virtual en el futuro.
We will be go on a vacation in virtual reality in the future.

For the verb poder, I move the E from infinitive ending, then add in simple future ending.

Poder -->  Podr-  --  podremos

The same rule applied to the verb,


Siguiente, en grupo 2,
Replace vowel from the infinitive ending with the letter D
por ejemplo,

Tendremos paneles solares en nuestra casa.
We will have solar panels on our house.

From the infinitive terner, I remove the E from the ending and place it with letter D before adding the simple future ending.

This also applies to verbs,


Grupo 3, super irreglares
decir (to tell) and hace (to make or to do)

These are plain irregular, but they are only 2 super irregular.  So you are fortunate, there.

Para decir, se usa dir- y para hacer, se usa har-.


por ejemplo,

Les diréis a los nietos de los disquetes y los discos en el futuro.
You will tell your grand children about floppy disks and recorders in the future.

Harán la electricidad con turbinas eólicas.
They will make electricity with wind turbines([機] 渦輪機 ).
