所謂「英雄出少年」。出生於1943的美國流行歌手Brian Hyland ( 布萊恩海蘭德 )，應該還滿符合這樣的情況。自幼學習吉他和黑管等樂器不說，15歲就組了個合音團體，也寄出了試唱錄音帶，可惜沒能成功獲得合約。之後，個人和Kapp唱片公司簽約，成為其旗下的歌手。
1960年8月，Hyland推出了他的第一張單曲《Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikine》，在最初的兩個月即銷售出將近一百萬張 ( 最後的總銷售量超過了二百萬張 ) ，當然也獲得了告示牌排行榜的冠軍，這時的Brian Hyland才16歲。
先來說說《Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikine》這首歌好了，光看歌名，相信沒幾個老中會唸得順以及了解其含意。其實這在當時算是一首詼諧幽默的新奇歌曲，講的是一位女孩穿了件黃色圓點的比基尼新泳衣，先是緊張害羞躲在換衣間不願出來，然後是身上裹了張毯子一直賴在沙灘上，最後雖然下水了，但卻泡在水裡不敢曝光上岸來。呵呵，泡到身體都變成藍色的了。滿有趣的歌曲，不過這首歌後來還是被歸類為bubblegum pop。Teenie Weenie是「小」的意思，Itsy Bitsy的意思也相近，所以有人將歌名翻為《黃色圓點小小的比基尼》。
Hyland的第二首大熱門曲是1962年的《Sealed with a Kiss》，獲得了告示牌排行榜的第3名 ( 但我卻覺得不如Bobby Vinton在1972翻唱的版本來得經典好聽 / #19 )。自這首歌之後，Hyland並無什佳作，直至1970年的這首《Gypsy Woman》，也同樣得到了第3名，也使得他的歌唱事業第三度的站上高峰。
Brian Hyland還有幾首前40名的歌曲，但我覺得只有《Ginny Come Lately》還不錯聽。哈哈，留著下次再來貼。
