謙遜耗子樂團 Modest Mouse--The Ocean Breathes Salty

很奇怪，第一次看Modest Mouse的MV我就哭的唏哩嘩啦。從來沒有想到那首歌到最後對我的意義會是什麼。

第一次接觸這個樂團也是因為SNL，(Saturday Night Life 週末夜現場，看我文章還不知道SNL的人就該打了.....)，他們出現的時候也是totally took my breath away，我好像看到哈利波特站在我眼前表演魔法一樣。我不解，這麼『不起眼』的美國人怎麼可以弄出那麼別緻的音樂。真是以貌取人呀，我犯了大家都會犯的錯，聽音樂真的應該閉上眼睛聽打開耳朵的。這幾個人長的有個性，說他們帥還真的要說謊。他們的歌不是走主流音樂，但是很簡單，很爽快，這類型的歌叫Indie Rock(中文翻<另類搖滾>嗎？)。

第一次看他們的MV是在Yahoo音樂上隨它撥放，聽到不喜歡的就跳到下一首，喜歡的注意看看這個樂團/歌手。Modest Mouse就是其中一個令我打開視窗，聽完他所有在Yahoo上的MV，然後一邊擦眼淚一邊看他們簡介的樂團。其實他們的歌對我來說有點太憤世忌俗跟無奈，但是輕快的節奏好像把歌詞掩蓋的很好，讓我不知不覺跟著主唱Isaac 唱出：「Well I don’t mind. I don’t mind. How the hell could I mind?」

專輯名字很，叫做Good News For the People Who Love Bad News (對熱愛壞消息的人來說的好消息)。中文專輯的名字卻把英文版的原意全破壞掉了，【改變悲觀的人】跟原版翻譯實在差太多了。真的很無奈，我想會去買【改變悲觀的人】那張專輯的人應該以為Modest Mouse是勵志的自我幫助錄音帶吧？

The Ocean Breathes Salty一開始就是一個不到十歲的小男孩往他的腳踏車跑，他媽媽在後面追，並為他戴上了眼鏡。戴著眼鏡的小男孩獨自騎著車在花田裡，並且跟稻草人玩棒球。他經過一隻受傷的鳥身邊，原先他想離開，但是當他看到別的鳥往那邊飛過去，他反而往受傷的鳥那邊跑。突然，鳥變成了一個大人的size，他用球棍戳了戳他的肩膀，而主唱扮的鳥想站起來但摔跤了，所以小男孩就拖著他走到空地上；他用紗布跟木板固定了鳥的翅膀，愛憐的摸摸鳥的頭，還用試管為鳥喝水，把麵包撥小塊給牠吃。小男孩把鳥放進鞋盒裡，然後興高采烈的抱著盒子準備給他媽媽看。媽媽看到很生氣要把鞋盒搶走，小男孩抱著盒子逃離心碎的媽媽，抱著盒子睡著了。突然，他也睡在盒子裡，但醒來的時候，鳥已經不見了；牠的翅膀恢復，小男孩坐在他的肩上玩，他們一起騎腳踏車跟玩棒球。但下一幕小男孩醒來了，原來鳥痊癒的一切都是夢，事實上鳥已經離他而去了。傷心的小男孩挖了洞，埋了鳥，還做了個十字架放在墓上。十字架變成了團員，小男孩半訝異的看著他們唱完歌，消失。

我想這是一首正面面對死亡的歌吧。歌詞中一開頭就唱著，「Your body may be gone, I’m gonna carry you in. In my head, in my heart, in my soul.(你的身體也許不在但我會帶著你走，在我的腦裡，心裡，靈魂裡。)」也許，這是我想對波比所說的話吧。我之所以會被MV感動，也是因為他演出小男孩孤單著一個人很久，直到他遇到受傷的鳥，鳥如何陪他玩耍，但到最後鳥還是離開他。

也許我自己一開始就接受了小男孩的角色，所以才會每次看每次哭吧。

最喜歡的還是那句「Well I don’t mind. I don’t mind. How the hell could I mind? (我不介意。我不介意。我有什麼辦法去介意？)」這可是十足我風味的無奈呀。
