Como dije antes, una de mis razones favoritas de aprender una lengua nueva es la comida.

Iloveto learn new recipe when I travel.  So then I can take them backhomeand make them when I want.  There is nothing like a meal to remindyouof your happy travel memories.

So, today I′m going to teachyouwhat you′ll need to know in order to give and follow a recipe. Thereare 2 ways you make the information about the recipes.  One isbyreading them, like buy a cook book while you′re traveling and youtakeit back with you.  In most of these books you′ll find that none oftheinstructinal verbs are conjugated, rather they are still ininifinitiveform. This is most impersonal way to give command in Spanishas it canapply to any reader or listerner and provide a sense ofgenerality, andit′s very often used in cook books, public science andotherinstructional formats.

1.  impersonal, general comannds are commonly in infinitive form, in cookbook, popular science and other instructional formats.

Mezclar el azúcar y la mantequilla en un cuenco.       
Mix the sugar and the butter in a bowl.

Cocinar las verduras en un sartén.       
Cook the vegetables in a frying pan.

Hornear en un molde en el horno por 30 minutos.  
Bake in a pan in the oven for 30 min.
       
Pero, ya sabes los infinitivos.  ¿No?  Espero que sí.       
Andsinceyou already are very comfortable with the infinitive, I say wemove onto the 2nd kind of command you will find in a recipe, "theinformal túcommand".  This is the command you will use for friends,closerelatives, children, classmates and even pets.  The same peopleyou willaddress, "tú" instead of "usted".  You'll aslo find someinformalcommand form used in some recipes.  I know when I writerecipes down formyself, I use the informal command, since I am tellingmyself what Ineed to do.  And the informal command form is a lot easyas it gets. Why don't you see if you can figure out the rule.       

2. informal Tú comands       

Mezcla los ingredientes con una cuchara.       
Mix the ingredients with a spoon.

Saca la mantequilla y la leche de la nevera.       
Take the butter & the milk out of refrigerator.

Hierve el azúcar y la leche en una cacerola.     
Boil the sugar and the milk in a saucepan
       
What did you notice?  The verbs are all in the 3rd person singular, right?  Well, that's it!       
For informal command, simply put the verb into the 3rd person singular.       
       
Informal Tú Commands = the 3rd person singular present       

Wanttotry a few on your won, just conjugate the verb in parentheses to the3rdperson singular, and you got yourself an informal command.       

(Batir) los huevos con una batidora.       
 Bate        
Beat the eggs with the whisk

(Combinar) los ingredientes en una olla.       
  Combina        
Combine the ingredients in a pot.

(Hervir) el agua en una cacerola.       
  Hierve        
Boil the water in a saucepan.

No está nada mal, pero claro que hay unos verbos irregularres.  Hay 8 verbos irregulares para mandados informales.       

Only 8 verbs do not follow the 3rd person singular rule.       
But rather have own special forms for informal command.       

5/8 -go verbs       
from the 1st person singular, take off the GO, and you get the command form.       
decir   digo --- di        to tell
          dime lo que sigue.       
** All object pronouns are attached to the end of affirmative commands (verbs).       
       
poner   pongo   pon        to put
Pon la mesa con un tenedor, un cuchillo, una servilleta, un plato, y un vaso para agua.       
Set the table with a fork, a knife, a napkin, a plate and a water glass.
       
tener    tengo    ten        to take
Ten cuidado con la cocina caliente.       
Take care with hot stove.
       
salir    salgo    sal        to leave
Sal de la cocina.       
Leave the kitchen.
       
venir    vengo    ven        to arrive
Ven aquí para batir los huevos.       
Come here so you can beat the eggs.

the last irregular verbs are ir, hacer and ser

Ve a la nevera para la leche.       
Go to the refrigerator for the milk.
       
hacer --- haz       
Haz un bizcocho chocolate para la fiesta.       
Make some brownie for the party.
       
ser ---- sé       
Sé una cocinera buena.       
Be a good cook.

Sé (ser)= Be       
Sé (saber) = I know
