Usually when I heard some criticism or saw people showing off, these few sentences popping up.

In fact, most of ciriticisms we heard, no matter it's about public policy, interpersonal relation, biz or even private life, ...etc.  it's mostly trying to indicate someone/ something was better than the criticized one.  And that someone or something is so often having much to do with the person who criticized.  No wonder we are often told, "when we point one finger at others we are actually pointing three fingers at ourselves."
