美國人擅長拯救地球，漏油就交給英國人了

六月一日墨西哥灣漏油的情形。

Oil continued to flow as technicians attempted a repair at the site ofthe Deepwater Horizon oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico in this imagetaken from a BP live video feed on Tuesday.

42天過去了，墨西哥灣的漏油事件只有傳來令人氣餒的消息，這個方法失敗了，那個發法行不通，這被譽為美國有史以來最大的生態浩劫，前40多天，其因應與對策卻是由石油商BP主導。這就是美國政府的真面目嗎？

不是連隕石撞地球，美國太空總署在18天之內派人登陸隕石的表面，並鑽洞貫穿至隕石的地心，放入核彈引爆，使之在撞上地球前就先在太空中毀滅嗎？(世界末日,Armageddon)

歐巴馬總統下令全面暫停墨西哥灣的33座深海鑽井平臺的工作，並延長了新深海油井的禁令，但這些舉措都不能堵住漏油！或許美國人擅長拯救地球(快的2天，慢的18天就可以解決)，所以墨西哥灣漏油事件交給英國人了！只是大家都沒料到，英國佬過了四十幾天都還只是在實驗而已。

以下是這40天來BP與美國海岸防衛隊所做過的種種嘗試。

Efforts to Suppress the Flow of Oil

Since a fire engulfed the Deepwater horizonrig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, engineers have attempted anumber of techniques to slow or stop the torrent of oil leaking fromthe wellhead 5,000 feet below the surface.

May 16 ATTACHING A TUBE

After several unsuccessful attempts, BP was able to attach amile-long tube into the broken riser pipe to divert some of the oil toa drill ship on the surface some 5,000 feet above the wellhead. Thetube has been siphoning off an average of 2,000 barrels a day, but thisaccounts for a small portion of the leak.
