”what does it matter what’s called?”
”You have got your toilets and your food.Your fluorescent lights and your plastic chairs. Crappy coffee. Strawberry jam sandwiches. It’s all pointless- assuming you try to find a point to it. We are coming from somewhere, heading somewhere else. That’s all you need to know.”
---from by Haruki Murakami
When I first saw it, I was like, hey, it is so true. Why do we have to figure out everything? Is it really gonna help? Or, do we just want to prove that we are not empty-brained idiots?
However, after I think it over for a few weeks, I believe it will be true if we see things in a large scale, such as in one’s lifetime.
On the other hand, if we pursue benefits in a short period, say a few years, then it probably will fail.
In a relationship, you want to figure out if he truly likes/loves you or not by reading every his behaviors and words.
And, you ask him questions about why he treats you in a certain way, which may be a sign that says he doesn’t like you enough.
Okay, and you gather all the information, but do you know where exactly you are heading to? Even though you go with the flow and do not try to make sense of everything, do you still know where you are going to?
In one’s career, you need to make sure every move because it will affect your plan. Say, if you want to be a designer, then you have to go to design studio to hone your skills. It is not possible for you to be a salesman while gaining your required skills. In this case, you have to check with yourself frequently and see if you are on the right track.
However, in the sense of one’s life, yes, we are difinitely coming from one place and we all know the other end - death. Then, what’s during the process is not that important. No matter how beautiful or how successful you are in your lifetime, it will just be the same in the end.
