Tears on the Rose
~In memory of the late H.H. Penor Rinpoche, my root guru.
Remember the tears, my dearest,
They emerged from the spring of your love upon me.
Because of your advice, I started the studies of Tibetan,
Because of being stimulated by your words, I made up my mind to be an ordanined one,
Because of you, I could then encounter so many marvelous teachers.
Remember my tears, my dear,
They emerged from the stream of your wisdom, which penetrated my whole being.
When I encountered hardships of studies, you appeared in my dream, granting the empowerment of Manjushri, the wisdom deity.
When I had confusions, you were the torch pointing out a clear path to follow,
When I was sad and lost because of your leaving, your smile was floating on the air, whispered to me " I am not far away from you "....
Remember the tears, my dearest,
They emerged from the ocean of your power.
I am the witness,
The witness of
The loveliness of your body,
The sweetness of your speech,
The tenderness of your mind.
The sandalwood scent of your morality,
The peacful energy of your concentration,
And the nectar-like taste of your wisdom.
I remember how kind you were to me,
How inspiring your prophecy and instructions were to me,
How wish-fulfilling your blessings were to me,
And I remember..of course....the way you smiled at me...
The way...you...smiled at me.
Yes, your smile was the most beautiful rose that I 've ever seen.
Remember my tears, my dear,
They are the secret code between you and me.
Now, it's the time of the unwanted sunset,
The rose is about to sleep,
But my dearest, before you close the eyes,
Please listen to the sound of tears when they drop on the petals of the rose,
The sound is a code, to invoke you to blossom again...
To blossom again,
Over again, again, and again.....
Composed in Namdroling Monastery during the Mahaparinirvana Ceremony of the late H.H. Penor Rinpoche. On the full moon day, 09 April, 2009. May we always enounter pure spiritual master life to life, as said in the text,
"May I encounter perfect gurus in every lifetimes,
May I never being seperated from them, and thus, to enjoy the prosperity of Dharma,
May I reach the perfection of all good qualities of grounds and paths,
And may I swiftly accomplish the state of Vajradhara."
Note;
In the afternoon on the same day, thousands of monks from Sera Monastery(Geluk sect) came to Namdroling Monastery(Nyinma sect) to offer some recitations and paid the last respect to Penor Rinpoche's body. Such thing never happened in Tibet's history since the secterianism is still stubuorn. So I regard this unusual and auspicious non-secterian event as the last gift that Penor Rinpoche left in this world.
