What is American’s definition to a sports car? The answer is this Chevrolet Corvette - the quintessential American Sports Car.
Unlike Japanese’s high revving, turbo charged sports car or European’s ultra light, artistically crafted sports car, Corvette gets its power from a naturally aspirated, big displacement, overhead valve engine.
To develop this new C6 Corvette, Chevrolet raced a C5R Corvette in the American Le Man GT series and won over competitions including Ferrari, and used the experiences gained wisely. In some ways, this C6 Corvette is almost better than last year’s Z06 in the stock form. The 6.0 liter LS2 engine produced 400 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque @ 4400 rpm. Please note, over 90% of the torque is already available at the lowly 3000 rpm. The engine is barely lugging at 1500 rpm when cruising at 75 mph. Tapping the gas pedal a little deeper, Corvette can sprint at 130 mph when the engine spinning at 4000 rpm. Top speed is at 186 mph.
Most of Corvette’s criticism in the past had been centered in the interior fit and finish. Chevrolet has really taken this to heart and made some major improvements to the C6’s interior. Beige leather interior permeate a sense of luxury; keyless entry and GM’s navigation system given the car a futuristic feeling. Head up display provides all essential information to the driver on the windshield, so he never has to take his eyes off the road.
It is really fun driving this 400 horsepower monster on the streets. Drifting out of a corner is only a tap of the gas pedal away. The ride is firm and managed. The booming engine provides a nice sound track in the background. Although Corvette’s size is on the big side, but the car felt very agile and balanced. We can easily slice through corners in the most efficient and predictable way.
This C6 Corvette has successfully crossed the line between sports and super sports. For barely $50,000, one can own a 400 horsepower, 186 mph sports car. The newly improved exterior and interior is just the icing on top of the cake. It looks like we are having a new car on our wish list.

自月刊成立以來,儘管獲得各車廠青睞,但鮮有機會深度試駕極速達186mph、零到60mph只要四秒鐘的超級跑車。透過CHEVROLET原廠安排,本刊再度突破紀錄,實際體驗Corvette C6這款美式超跑經典的本領,結論是:「大排氣量果然厲害」。
玻璃纖維車身典型美國超跑精神
回憶上次試駕Z06也不過才沒多久,去年度第六代Corvette C6就匆匆上市,筆者還回味著Z06驚天動地的性能實力,而C6的出現亦宣告著,新Corvette絕對不讓您失望!與日本跑車渦輪增壓或高轉速大馬力不同,也和歐洲超跑輕量化、融入美學觀點於機械設計相異,在Corvette身上所感受到的,是屬於美國人對「真跑車」的詮釋與定義。首創玻璃纖維車身打造、獨樹一幟的大排氣量自然進氣引擎設定,這些都是在美國以外所看不到的思維,但相同的充沛扭力和輕盈加速感,卻是其得以躋身超跑之林的籌碼。
傳承賽事經驗大排氣量伺候
新一代Corvette的進化,投入相當人力和精神,更代表著一種傳承。CHEVROLET毅然決然地投入Le Mans GT大賽,以C5R擊退眾敵包括FERRARI等,豐富的參賽經驗和知識,得以融入C6開發的藍圖裡,也因此單就性能上,其表現早已超越上一代Z06。6.0升LS2大八缸引擎可爆發400hp/6,000 rpm、400lbs-ft/4,400 rpm,注意端詳4,400rpm峰值扭力,筆者實際上在3,000rpm時就已經被其將近九成的輸出震得魂飛魄散,有關C6技術面的種種變更,讀者可參考本刊第八期有詳盡介紹。
融合房車與跑車格局重新塑造座艙
在內裝材料與設計,C6可說進步幅度相當大,擺脫以往的塑膠味、廉價感,新一代車型的米色內裝賞心悅目,搭配GM新開發的導航裝置、Keyless鑰匙設計、抬頭顯示器和旅程電腦等,C6感覺頗具科技感。駕駛者手持著遙控器或放身上,車門一扣就可以打開,透過感測裝置輕觸按鍵引擎即可啟動,整個過程讓人覺得身價大增,亦更符合Corvette為美國當家超跑之形象。OHV八缸引擎聲浪相當特別,低沈而渾厚迴盪在座艙,這也是標準美式跑車特色,離合器並未如想像中沈重,檔位切換也比想像中清晰。有趣的是,透過抬頭顯示功能,駕駛者可一手掌握油耗、路線導航、轉速、車速甚至音響頻道等資訊,眼睛完全不需移動到中控台上,且透過螢幕旁的按鈕,您還可直接語音遙控車內各項功能。
神奇公路之旅力道源源不絕
有拜大排氣量之賜,C6在1,500rpm公路巡航時速高達75mph,油門略深3,000rpm時就已經100mph,到達4,000時瞬間力道推到130mph以上,只要一不注意,指針就直探150mph,那種「400俱樂部」的暴力型表現,在公路上真的很驚人,此時除非警方動用直昇機,否則一般警車恐怕也消失在照後鏡裡,一輛極速高達186mph的跑車快起來,在路上就跟看到一顆砲彈飛過般,連用眼神捕捉都有幾分困難。若您認為美國跑車都是軟腳蝦,建議您最好嘗試一下Corvette,就能知道什麼叫做超跑。透過中央扶手的旋鈕減震筒阻尼有兩段設定,分別是Touring和Sports,在行車狀態下即可直接操作,且路感改變相當明顯。筆者實際駕駛後,感受到儘管Corvette車身龐大,但在出入彎道時卻顯得相當乾淨俐落絲毫不拖泥帶水,這與日本改裝跑車的感覺不同,可以察覺到整個車架、懸吊和輪胎的平衡,唯獨強大的扭力輸出,在駕駛者操作時得特別留意油門深度,若將Magnetic Selective Ride Control切掉,車尾的不穩定動態,可會讓人手忙腳亂。
Corvette讓您抬起下顎
Corvette的強力輸出,帶來相當程度的樂趣,時下流行的甩尾(Drifting),只要在彎道油門一補扭力上揚,車尾立刻向外甩出,低速下只要大腳一灌後輪立刻空轉,這種表現在一般車上是看不到的,也是擁有超跑所帶來的附加樂趣。另一方面,Corvette的特殊定位也反映在筆者這種亞裔身上,在行經老美出入的商業區裡,路人看到嶄新的C6駛過都會多看兩眼,尤其C6和上一代的C5、Z06差異頗大,加上裡面的駕駛者是亞裔,更是倍受關愛眼神,可拆卸硬頂一拿下後,拉風程度百分百,無怪乎駕駛Corvette的車主,總讓人感覺高傲。
進化後的新層次
筆者絕對贊同,如果您說Corvette進化已經提升到另一層次,以曾經駕馭過Z06的經驗,C6車外犀利、霸氣依舊,但車內多了相當多配備,且用料、組裝都有進步,最重要的行車感可介於跑車和房車間,少了跑車的侷促、沒有房車的軟調路感,摒除其依舊兩人座設定C6成功跨足高價位超跑領域,儘管市場上對手林立,不過CHEVROLET保留其價格優勢,算算不過五萬美金左右,就可擁有「400」等級的待遇,除非是極端排斥美國品牌,否則任誰也難以抗拒這種誘惑,看來筆者未來的購車目標得略做修改。
