Recently a friend of mine asked me what novel moved me the most and I said "Loving LittleKing." Your story brought back emotions I had once buried and nearly forgotten because of the pains associated with them. Thank you for writing it and sharing it for all to read. I for one am really grateful because the impacts it had on me.
Anyway, I have one request to make. After I raved about your novel so much, my friend would like to read it. However there is one not so small problem -- he cannot read Chinese. Is it ok for me to translate Loving LittleKing into English for my friend to read?
My English really isn’t that great to begin with. Not to mention the difficulty of properly translating all the culture and palmadrama references into another language. Nevertheless, I’d still like him to read it for he too can appreciate and joy and pain in your writing. I hope I won’t do too bad a job and can do justice to your excellent novel.
Thanks,
Chris

To Chris:

Thank you for giving me permission to translate it personally. Even if the publisher declined to have it be translated into English in writing, I could at least feel ok to read it to my friend.
My friend and I just recently (yesterday!) agreed to move to the "next level" in our relationship after 4 years of being best friends with each other. The catalyst is none other than your novel. It helped me cross the emotional barrier I set which prevented us from going to the next level 4 years ago. So, it really means a lot to me getting your permission.
Chris
