前言: 小朋友, 你們知道中國人為什麼要在元宵節吃元宵,
提燈籠 和猜燈謎呢? 它們都是有典故的喔!
吃元宵的習俗可能從宋代就開始,不過當時稱做
「浮圓子」,到明朝才改稱「元宵。」古時候的人
為了在一年的開始有個好兆頭,就吃圓圓的湯圓
以象徵全家平安有福。元宵煮好後先敬祖先,然後闔家團聚,
吃元宵就是團圓幸福的意思。
元宵節又稱燈節,除了照明以外,燈籠還有其他意義,
每年正月私塾(古代的學校)開學時,家長會為子女
準備一盞燈籠,由老師點亮,象徵學生的前途一片光明,
稱為「開燈」。後來就由此演變成元宵節提燈籠的習俗。
也有人稱花燈為「鼓子燈」,因為過去小朋友所提的燈型
就像鼓鑼一樣。元宵花燈種類很多,如寺廟的綵燈、
店舖的走馬燈及兒童的鼓仔燈等。式樣種類很多,
基本上可分為兩類:一是形象燈如關刀燈、兔燈、
水果燈、半燈等;另一是活動燈,是根據民間故事編製,
現在多為電動花燈,如狀元遊街、八仙賀壽、桃園結義等等
表現忠孝節義的故事。
以往燈謎都在寺廟裡舉行,因為寺廟乃民眾閒暇時聚集的場所,
而且有花燈競賽與展示,所以從前都在花燈下綁上一個謎面,
到元宵夜由廟裡相關人員主持猜燈謎,場面熱鬧而溫馨,
因為可以得個獎品回家,算是小過年的吉祥兆頭。
