美國牛肉安全無虞?消費者為之瘋狂!

Two days after it was reintroduced the Taiwan market, US beef is being snapped up by consumers. Retailers report over 80 percent of the first shipment has already been sold. The Consumers' Foundation warned, however, that the government has no way of telling if any of the beef is infected with BSE.

After it had been off the market in Taiwan for 16 months due to an outbreak of BSE, consumers hungry for US beef are buying as much as they can get. Retailers reported brisk sales of the beef as of Monday evening.

This retailer said that their three stores had imported approximately 3.6 tons of US beef and that they had sold 80 percent by 6pm Monday.

But there are still concerns that traces of the dreaded mad cow disease could make their way into Taiwan in the imported beef. The Consumers' Foundation said that it doubts that the government can accurately check for infected meat after the cows have been slaughtered.

President of the Consumers' Foundation, Li Fong-ao, said that checks for BSE need to be conducted with samples taken from the spinal and cranial areas of live cows.

Concerned that US agriculture authorities have yet to deal with the outbreak properly, neighboring nations such as Japan and South Korea still ban the import of US beef.

美國牛肉剛上架一兩天,消費者熱烈捧場,有賣場一天之內就賣出這批空運牛肉八成以上,但是消基會提出警告,質疑政府根本無法對屠宰後的牛肉作出狂牛病菌檢驗,民眾吃的安全值得憂慮。

美國牛肉香嫩的口感,油花均勻,很多人吃了都讚不絕口,再加上媒體報導,很多人這一兩天要買肉都會想買買美國牛肉試一試,果然,賣場業者表示,第一批空運來台上架的美國牛肉,光是二十五日傍晚就賣掉八成以上。

賣場業者: 我們三家店大概進了3.6噸的量,我們到了傍晚五六點的時候,八成的美國牛肉已經賣掉了。

吃飼料長大的美國牛肉真的已經揮別狂牛症陰影了嗎?消基會質疑已經屠宰後的牛肉,政府根本無法判定是否有狂牛病毒?安全令人質疑。

消基會董事長李鳳翱:要做所謂狂牛症的檢測的話,必須是在活著的牛,透過脊椎腦部的抽取之後才能進行檢測。

不說別的,鄰近亞洲國家,像是日本韓國都還沒開放美國牛肉進口,美國人不愛吃的去骨牛小排,台灣民眾撿便宜,才能享受降價的優惠價格。
