Nan Goldin（1953-）
Nan Goldin的作品裡沒有多餘的風景，多餘的贅述，有的只是人性，人味，與極度歡笑與悲傷。從作品中，妳會深深的嘆息，也可能被瞬間的視覺影像吸引而久久不能自己。她從生活週遭的朋友顯影，有同性戀者，有妓女，有吸毒者，有可能畫面不是愉快的，而是充滿無奈與現實的殘酷。彷彿羅特列克再世般，她刻畫的是我們平常在街上看不到的情景，當然也有一些如Jeff Koons的色情。她與Jeff Koons不同的是，她的照片裡，沒辦法勾起你的情慾，反而帶來更意味深藏的無奈。（圖1）即是她與男友在性愛過後的照片，片中的男友被對著她，他們雖然在同一張床上，卻無法經由親密與擁抱過後，更了解彼此。反而更加疏離。這張照片令人感到的不是歡愉，不是溫暖，而是冷酷與無限深層的悲哀。
除此之外，她把它最親密的友人---Cookie的生活寫照也真實的記錄了下來，從一起生活，到與Vittorio結婚，到Vittorio死於愛滋病，之後Cookie也死於愛滋。她痛心疾首的拍攝著這些照片，照片上看似冷酷無情的記錄著這樣一個事實，新聞，照片下卻帶有深刻的情感與對朋友的不捨眷戀。在她的自白中，她如是說:”while I was away in 1988 Cookie got sick. When I came back to see her in August 1989 the effects of AIDS had robbed her of her voice. But when I photographed her she spoke to me, she was as present as ever. On September 14th her husband Vittorio died from AIDS-related illness and after that Cookie kind of gave up. She died on November 10th.i used to think I couldnt lose anyone if I photographed them enough. I put together a series of pictures of Cookie from 13 years I knew her in order to keep her with me. In fact, they show me how much I have lost.”[1]
Nan Goldin是如此真切的拍攝著她的生活，沒有華麗的風景，亦沒有壯麗的景闊。
『 我總是在想如果我有計劃的時常去拍攝某些人，我就永遠不會失去他們。然而，我的照片卻是所有我曾經失去的證據。』"I always thought that if I managed to photograph somebody often enough, I could never lose them. My photographs are, however, the proof of how much I have lost."[2]
這就是Nan Goldin。
