Melanie C was the first Spice Girls member to launch a solo career. Her debut album Northern Star was released in 1999. The third single off the album, "Never Be The Same Again", features rap verses by Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes from TLC. The song became Sporty Spice's first UK No. 1 single.
"Never Be The Same Again" also marks the beginning of Left Eye's solo career. Her debut solo album Supernova was released in 2001. However, this would be Left Eye's first and final studio album as she died in a car accident in 2002.
