"You And I Both" is the third single from Jason Mraz's debut album Waiting for My Rocket to Come. On Tonight, Not Again: Jason Mraz Live at the Eagles Ballroom, Mraz revealed that the song was written for his ex-girlfriend. To make sure she would know, he used the her favorite word 'unencumbered' in the lyrics.
Many people assume that Mraz's ex-wife is the "You And I Both" girl. In reality, this ex-girlfriend turns out to be someone who cowrote Mraz's song "Little You & I" (hence inspiring the title of "You And I Both"). The lady also spoke for herself on the Jason Mraz discussion forum.
