Mobb Deep (comprised of Prodigy and Havoc) is an American hip hop duo which enjoyed huge success with its critically-acclaimed album The Infamous in the mid-90s. The duo is known for its thuggish, bleak, and hardcore rap style, and is often considered the signature of East Coast Gangsta Rap.
Mobb Deep joined rapper 50 Cent's G-Unit family in 2005, but was later dropped from the record label in 2009.
Prodigy is currently serving a 3 year prison sentence for criminal possession of a weapon and will be released on March 7, 2011. Havoc is ready to reunite with Prodigy for a new Mobb Deep album. Meanwhile, Prodigy will release his memoir, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, on April 19.
