Seventy-two small fish were briefly launched into space by researchers, hoping their swimming patterns would shed some light on motion sickness.

七十二隻小魚日前短暫被研究人員發射進入太空，希望魚兒的游泳模式能讓科學家更瞭解動暈症。

German researchers sent the cichlids on a 10-minute rocket ride that blasted off from a launch pad in northern Sweden, said Professor Reinhard Hilbig, who was in charge of the project. "They were very happy, I think they want to have another flight," he said.

德國研究人員讓這些慈鯛自瑞典北部的發射台升空，進行一段歷時約十分鐘的火箭之旅，據負責這項計畫的希比格教授表示。「牠們很高興，我覺得牠們還想再飛一次，」他說。

The thumbnail-sized fish were filmed as they swam around weightlessly in small aquariums during the unmanned space flight.

在這段無人太空飛行旅程中，這群只有拇指般大小的魚兒在無重力狀態下在小型水族箱裡游泳，全部過程都被拍攝下來。

The German team will now study the video to see if some of the fish swam in circles because that is what fish do when they experience motion sickness, said Hilbig.

德國研究團隊現在則要仔細研究這段影片，好研判某些魚繞著圈子游泳的原因，是否是因為牠們出現了動暈症症狀，希比格說。

He said scientists hope the experiment can help explain why some people experience motion sickness while others do not. The mechanisms involved are similar for both fish and humans.

他說科學家希望這項實驗能有助於解釋，為何有些人會暈車，但其他人卻不會。引發動暈症的機制在魚和人身上都相同。

Cichlids were picked for the experiment because they are sturdy fish who were deemed to have good chances to survive the stress of a space flight.

科學家選擇慈鯛進行實驗，因為牠們是較強健的魚種，在太空飛行的壓力下存活的機率也較高。
