發行於 1976 年的《Hotel California》專輯中。在這首歌曲中，可以發現 Eagles 之所以受到廣大歌迷喜愛的種種元素。像是對美國這個富強國家的反省和批判、優異的作詞作曲功力、歌者特殊又充滿情感的歌喉以及優美的合聲。
歌曲一開始，Don Henley 就說出了這首歌的意義：「everybody talks about how the west was won... this is about how the west was lost」。

Ps: Rhode Island 是美國最小的一個州，也是第一個宣佈脫離英國獨立和最晚接受美國聯邦制的州。Rhode Island 由 Roger Williams 及一群宗教信徒在此建立了普洛維頓斯鎮（Providence）。Roger Williams 和此地的居民相信良心自由的重要，這成為創立羅德島的重要原則，後來更成為美國的立國精神。
