 蘇軾是宋朝著名的文人才子，高僧佛印是他的好朋友，兩人經常一起打坐、參禪。

一天， 兩人在一起坐禪，蘇東坡的禪感很好，收功以後問佛印：

「你看看我像什麼？」

佛印認真地打量了一會兒，說：「我看你身上金光閃閃，像尊佛。」

蘇東坡心裡非常高興，哈哈大笑。

佛印問蘇東坡：「那麼，你看看我像什麼呢？」

蘇東坡喜歡捉弄老實的佛印，所以故意說：「我看你像一攤牛糞。」

佛印說，「那我還得好好修煉。」

蘇軾佔了便宜，回家就在蘇小妹面前炫耀這件事。聰明的蘇小妹對

哥哥說：「哥哥，你這次輸給佛印了。」

「為什麼？」蘇東坡問。

蘇小妹說，「佛印說看你像尊佛，那是因為他心中有佛，看什麼

都是佛；你說佛印像牛糞，想想你心中有什麼吧！」

所以說，人的精神境界是不同的。一個人心中有什麼，他看到的就是什麼。

Su Shi (B.C.1036-1011) was a famous poet and

gifted scholar in China. Monk Fo Yin was his good friend.

 They always practiced meditation together.

One day, after practicing meditation, Su Shi felt great

and asked,

 “What do I look like?” Fo Yin seriously looked him

up and down, he said, “I saw the shinning from your body.

You look like a Buddha,” Fo Yin replied.

Su Shi was very glad to hear that and laughed uproariously.

And then Fo Yin curiously asked,

“What do I look like?”

Su liked to tease the honest Fo Yin, so he deliberately said,

 "You look like a pool of cow dung.

FoYin said, "Then I should practice more."

Su Shi was enjoying in the advantage. He went home and showed off

 to his sister. Su xiao mei, a clever and naughty girl, said,

"My dear brother, you lost to Fo Yin."

"Why?"Su asked.

Su xiao mei said, "Fo Yin said that you look like a Buddha,

Because there is a Buddha in his mind; but you saw him as cow dung.

 Think about what is right in your mind!"

Therefore, everybody has a different mental state.

People see what is in their minds.
