At midnight, getting up from the bed, I walked to the hallway, and opened the front door. Watching my strange action, my father blocked me immediately.
He asked, “It’s so late! What are you doing?”
I don’t remember what I said; I just remembered that he soothed my shoulders with his hands, pushing me gently back to my bedroom.
He said, “ It’s OK! you have gone outside already. You should go back to sleep now.”
On next day, at a proper time, he asked me if I remembered my action from the previous night. As usual, without his questioning about it that day, I would have already forgotten what I had done.
Later, my father installed an extra door lock. Intensionally, he placed higher it than I could reach. Oh! My father, he showed this loving and caring for me in such a subtle way.

Both Legs are Lacking in Vigilance
Holding my little hot body, my father rushed out, looking for the doctor everywhere. He wondered why, his little baby appeared lively before the flu shot that noon. But during the shot, I was in pain and cried out.
Lying on the bed, My eyes were no longer shinning, and not a word came from my mouth. Watching his lively baby become seriously handicapped, my father’s heart burned.
“Fei, stand up, let me see,” after my fever was gone. He tried to pull me up. Lying on the bed without any energy, I heard my father call me. Trying to hold the bedside, I wanted to raise my body up, but my legs like stuck there out of my control.
My father was very pitiful. He just held me and ran to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, sweating, tears running down his chin, and slipped onto my face. I asked,” why is the water salty?”
“ Oh! The sands in the wind are full of germs, they tasted salty, that’s why I told you, Don’t rub your eyes! Wash your hands frequently.”
Lowering his head, he kissed my face.
“MM~ Fei is a good boy, clean and take baths always!”
Lying on his bosom, straightening my spine, I stretched out my little palm to wipe the tears on his face.
The doctor couldn’t diagnosis the illness. But my father never gave up taking care of me. He massaged my legs carefully and immersed my legs in hot water to keep the thigh nerve of my legs from atrophy.Gradually, I recovered and could stand up normally. He felt like a weight lift from his shoulders. Later on he happily made ‘Gugu Chic’- a walker for me.
