本文摘自馬天賜神父的宗教交談心得
最近二十多年, 我深受天主教本篤會的學者和苦修者，在印度研究印度教及服務二十六年的 Dom Henri Le Saux, Swami Abhishiktananda神父 (1910-1973) 的影響。他於1969年所寫的一篇文章，深深地影響了我的反省和探討。以下為那篇文章的一段話：

我們必須學習
在我們自己的心靈深處
體驗到別的宗教信徒的最深宗教經驗。
不但如此，我們必須學習
把其他宗教信徒的經驗，轉化成自己的靈修經驗。
同時，也在他們內看到我們自己最深的宗教體驗。
換言之，
我們也須把自己開放給其他宗教的朋友，
使他們意識到我們最深的靈修經驗；
同時，也在他們的心靈深處
看到我們最深的靈修經驗
是與他們最深的靈修經驗契合的。”

(1) The Depth-Dimension of Religious Dialogue

All through the last twenty-four years, my personal commitment to interreligious dialogue and cooperation has been deeply enlightened and encouraged by the reflection of a French Benedictine priest and scholar (Dom Henri Le Saux, Swami Abhishiktananda, 1910-1973) who lived and worked twenty-six years in India.
In a long article (20 pages) which he wrote in 1969, shortly after the Second Vatican Council, and which I discovered twelve years later, in 1981, during a visit in India - Swami Abhishiktananda tells us:

“Each partner in dialogue must try to make his own,
as far as possible, the intuition and experience of the other,
to personalise it in his own depth, beyond his own ideas
and even beyond those through which
the other attempts to express and communicate them
with the help of signs available in his tradition.”

For a fruitful dialogue, it is necessary that I reach, as it were,
in the very depth of myself to the experience of my brother,
freeing my own experience from all accretions,
so that my brother can recognize in me
his own experience of his own depth.”
