The Road Not Taken 《棄之不選的路》

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
黃葉林中出現岔路，
And sorry I could not travel both
抱歉我難於兼顧，
And be one traveler, long I stood
順著一條婉蜒小路，
And looked down one as far as I could
久久佇立極目遠眺，
To where it bent in the undergrowth
只見小徑另進灌林。

Then took the other, as just as fair,
接著選擇了另一條，
And having perhaps the better claim,
或許這條路似乎更好，
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
引人踩踏鋪滿茂草，
Though as for that the passing there
踏在其間難分彼此，
Had worn them really about the same,
儘管真有兩條相同的路。

And both that morning equally lay
那天清晨，兩條路都覆蓋在枝葉下
In leaves no step had trodden black.
一樣都未曾有過足跡
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
啊！我竟將第一條岔路留待未來！
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
雖然心裡明白，路是一條接著一條
I doubted if I should ever come back.
我懷疑自己是否還會回來

I shall be telling this with a sigh
我會歎息地述說這件事
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I ──
林中有兩條岔路，而我……
I took the one less traveled by,
選擇了一條較少人會走的路
And that has made all the difference.
這一切都截然不同了。

美國著名詩人羅拔‧霍斯特(Robert Frost, 1974-1963)在1915年寫的一首小詩。The Road Not Taken 《棄之不選的路》。這首詩語意簡單，卻遇意深遠。詩人表示林中有兩條路，沿途各有不同的風景，而他選擇了那條較少人走的路，也因此一切都不同了。

跟隨前人或多人走的路應該是安全的，但一點趣味也沒有。我信三歲定八十，從小我就不喜歡跟父母上街，從不願給他們拖著，所以我時時走失，十次出街九次失蹤，累他們周處找我，內心有點愧疚。但路始終要自己走，我的路由我創造。路選定了就不要退，除非誤入歧途。不果，最終大家也是殊途同歸的。
