I met these fascinating flowers at the parking lot of the Central Market. The showy yellow and bright orange-red blossoms amazed me. Their swaying in the breeze was as beautiful as their name, Red Bird of Paradise (also known as Pride of Barbados). They love heat, need full sun and bloom all summer long with a very little supplemental irrigation. I hate the summer in Texas, but it is definitely a paradise for these splendid blossoms.
