在家教學生的作文範本中教到了關於紐約旅遊的主題寫作，正好他在週末看的電影也是以紐約為拍攝背景的「蜘蛛人2」(Spider-Man 2, 2004)；今晚上網找英文歌詞，卻又不期而遇到”I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City”這首1969年Harry Nilsson唱的老歌，在民國58年我都尚未來到人世，就已經有人創作出30多年後的我對紐約幾乎一致的想法，very interesting！1998年「電子情書」(You’ve Got Mail)的原聲帶中Sinead O’Connor也曾翻唱這首歌，在電影中配搭著Meg Ryan和Tom Hanks兩人在Starbuck的櫥窗邊心情愉悅地聊天。另外「慾望城市」(Sex and the City)第四季其中一集題為「Belles of the Balls」，Mr. Big被明星女友拋棄後，驅車前往市郊急欲找尋渡假中的Carrie”療傷”，車外大雨正滂沱，車內放的歌正是1976年Billy Joel的”New York State of Mine”，於是Carrie對他當下的多愁善感...以及這首歌，使了一個怪異眼色；Barbra Streisand也曾在1977年的「Streisand Superman」專輯中翻唱過這首好歌。再前一些日子中又看了Martin Scorsese的名作「計程車司機」(Taxi Driver,1976)，讓我回顧70年代紐約的市井風情及Robert De Niro、Jodie Foster、Harvey Keitel、Cybill Shepherd的青春風采。
林林總總、片片段段…紐約又盤旋在我的領空，如果我的上帝不在紐約，又怎麼會有這樣的虔誠？如果我的心思不在紐約，又為何會有如此的痴情？
那一天當公車即將從紐澤西的高速公路，駛入通往曼哈頓的Lincoln Tunnel前幾秒鐘，初見Ｈudson River對岸著名的曼哈頓地景線，我督促自己立刻把這一幕永遠印記在心底，下一次再親眼見到這一個場景不知道何年幾月了，於是之後幾天在紐約的我，幾乎是以這樣的意念用心、用力地把我目睹到的、感受到的，不用相機而是以我無數個感官鏡頭紀錄下來，當作是這一輩子最後一次來到這一個”熟悉”的地方。事實上，走闖過紐約，其他地方對我而言永遠都只是second choice，這份深情如聚沙終究成塔；似星火足以燎原。
我已經在為下次離開紐約的千頭萬緒做好收拾的心理準備了！
