"On the Way Down" is American pop/rock singer Ryan Cabrera's debut single, which peaked at No. 15 on Billboard Hot 100 in 2004. Everybody thought that "On the Way Down" was a love song about Ashlee Simpson, his girlfriend at that time. But in reality, the song was written before their relationship and it was about being saved by God on his way down (Simpson's debut single "Pieces of Me" was written about Cabrera though).
The music video stars Ashlee Simpson as Cabrera's lover. They only dated for a short amount of time, but the two made a sweet couple back then.
