"Ocean Avenue" was the breakout song which made Yellowcard get mainstream media attention. The song was so overplayed on MTV in 2004 that the fans thought the channel would ruin the band.
Surprisingly, the song is not about a relationship with a girl, but about wanting to go back to the time when things were better. The lyrics are quite self explanatory after knowing that Ocean Avenue, a place in Jacksonville, Florida, is where the band used to hang out in.
The music video was directed by Marc Webb and the concept is a nod to the 1998 movie Run Lola Run.
