When Audi took over Lamborghini’s operation in 1998, it infused the vast VAG resource into the company. In 2004, Lamborghini introduced its “Baby Lambo”, Gallardo, designed to fight with Ferrari’s entry level F430. The Gallardo has a new 5-liter V10 engine and Audi’s Quattro system. Controlling the 495 horses from the V10 is the new 6-speed e-gear transmission. One can quickly change gears through the steering wheel mounted pedals. The e-gear transmission shifts instantaneously, one only need to concentrate on finding the perfect apex, slightly depress the brake pedal, flick the downshift pedal, and power out the corner. The lines are crisp, steering is sharp, and the stiff chassis is incredibly balanced.

Along with Audi’s drive train technology, the Gallardo also gets VAG’s famous interior treatment. The cabin is logical and luxurious. Finally, this is an exotic sports car that cuddles its driver both on the track and on the street.
