NAZA Bikes Sdn Bhd aims to sell 18,000 of its newly launched NAZA Flash 125 cc motorcycles, a four-stroke moped, in Malaysia and Thailand next year and capture 5% of the local moped market share.

NAZA Bikes’ vice president of operations Datuk Zulkifli SM Amin said it has targeted to sell 3,000 units this year and had already received tremendous interest with 1,720 units sold on its first launch day. “We want to capture a bigger slice of the motorcycle market, and the moped is the largest segment in that market,” he said.

Speaking at the launch of the NAZA Flash 125 last Saturday, Zulkifli said that NAZA Bikes would begin selling its new motorcycle model in Thailand in the first quarter of next year and expects to sell 1,000 units within 2008. He said that there were 150 NAZA Bikes dealers in the country and the company would have a nationwide promotion at selected destinations as well as test runs for potential customers.

The company used Japanese technology to create the NAZA Flash 125 engine and so far NAZA Bikes had spent RM3 million and taken 16 months to develop the motorcycle. The Naza Flash 125 is priced at RM3,688 per unit (excluding road tax).
