Taylor：Oh, man, I really hate our new boss.
泰勒：噢，天啊，我真的很討厭我們的新老闆。
Jackson：Yeah, he's very cruel. He enjoys it when people suffer.
傑克森：對啊，他很殘忍。他喜歡看別人痛苦。
Taylor：Yeah. And this morning he fired me！
泰勒：沒錯，他今早把我炒魷魚了。
Jackson：Oh, no！I'm not surprised, though. He never liked you.

Taylor：You should have heard him say how sorry he was to let me go, and blah, blah, blah.

Taylor：Yeah, with this sad look on his face. But I'm sure it was only crocodile tears.
泰勒：對啊，他還一臉難過的樣子。可是我知道他只是貓哭耗子假慈悲。
Jackson：Yeah. Only 15 minutes after he talked to you, I heard him saying what a relief to let you go.

crocodile tears
crocodile指「鱷魚」，tear是「眼淚」，本俚語由字面直譯是「鱷魚的眼淚」。傳說鱷魚在大啖獵物時，會邊吃邊為自己吃掉的動物流下眼淚，因此後人便用「鱷魚的眼淚」比喻一個人「假惺惺、假慈悲」，相當於中國俗諺「貓哭耗子假慈悲」。
例：George seems upset that Joan lost the election. God knows he's just weeping crocodile tears.（喬治看似因瓊安選舉落敗不開心。天曉得他其實只是在貓哭耗子假慈悲。）
