cold turkey
turkey是「火雞」，cold turkey字意是「冷的火雞肉」，實指「斷然戒掉（毒癮、菸癮）」。此俚語由來有一種說法，相較於藥物治療，突然戒掉菸癮或毒癮常會導致癮君子全身冒冷汗且發抖，這和冷火雞肉上面的水珠及雞皮疙瘩（goose bumps）很像。此俚語之前常與動詞go或quit並用。
