My old friend Ancient lives in Taichung. We’ve known each other for 18 years, just started in this beautiful city when we were very very young.
With the most art talent, he is my only one classmate who gets in the design industry. For he good in publication and interior design, I always envy his ability in this field so much.
He is really a special guy. With tall and strong body figure, healthy black skin, always short cut hair and the in style dress, Ancient’s mature and cultivated feature always got most attraction of girls in school. Now, even he was married, with 2 children and 2 times fat than past, he still got some adoring sights in many occasions.
Anyway, aboves are not my points. This time I went to Taichung City, and had a chance to visit his new studio. His new studio just installed in an old soldier community. When I arrived at a cloudy afternoon, its newly white appearance made it obviously. He rebuilt a typical soldier community house, a little space with 2 floors.
He decided to crate some new windows on the wall and changed the position of gate. These windows bring sufficient natural lights, and make the space more clear and warm. In another side, the new gate offered more smooth action way. For the whole new white appearance with grass, Ancient even chose a red flower tree to match it.
Some artworks got from bankruptcy stores(ha ha ……) give this house a kind of leisure and easy atmosphere. Bankruptcy stores failed to pay the charges of design, Ancient need to take over many strange items. Because of this, you can find the Buddha and crystal hole for decorate, ancient forcer for visitors’ shoes, Ming Dynasty form chair for host. “I just chose some of them for decorate, there even have many others can’t show out.” he said.
Another side of 1 floor is the working space, and he installed a study room at second floor. Study room with sofas around an antique box as a table, full of host’s private spirit.
He treated me to a cup of coffee in this studio. We changed some news, I know even he started this business for many years, it also not an easy way. He fails and rises, again and again. This is his third studio I know. “I just moved in for 1 month, and some places still not prepared well.” he said.
Finally we ate lunch downtown together. I know he still have some legal disputes needed to solve. Wish this time he’ll have a good start, and much courage to face every task.
