After dinner, Gabriel and Brian lie on the sofa watching TV. Gabriel slightly lean his head on Brian’s shoulder. “When did you move from dorm?” Brian asks. “After you left school.” Gabriel says, “Umm…how’s your new job?” Fondling Gabriel’s hair, Brian replies lazily, “So, so. It’s all the same; girls will linger around me, trying to date with me…” “How’s your assistant? Is she your type?” Gabriel pops a question. Brian’s palm moves to Gabriel’s waist, pulls him closer. Brian whispers to Gabriel: “Don’t you trust me?” Gabriel shakes his head and says, “No. I just can’t receive such a disgusting woman always freaking around you.” He notices Brian is smiling.
The room is in dark. Only the bedside lamp gives a little light. Time seems slow down its footstep. There are noisy cars and crowded people under the window; they represent the short prosperous of this city. While inside the room, the couple represent the eternity of life. “Do you think…the police will come to us?” Gabriel asks. “No. I believe in Molly. And I believe in you.” Brian answers firmly. ‘Me too…’an echo sounds in Gabriel’s heart.
“If one day I die, will you do the same thing for me, like we do for Molly?” Gabriel takes the saltcellar rolling in palm. Brian gives him a wry smile, “yeah, that means I have to prepare another pepper shaker to add your ashes into every meal. Oh, that’s too bad. Everyone will think I likes heavy flavor!” Gabriel laughs and says with surprising: “you put the cremains into pepper shakes? I bottle them with saltcellar, cream jar, and flours. So, you eat ever meal with a pepper shaker? One year?” Gabriel says with a teasing smile. Brian loses words for a while. And suddenly he embraces Gabriel, roars threatening: “would you think I am so weak to trick? You need a good treat…”
Gentle wind blows outside the room. It brings the yellow leaves from trees, and passes the harsh siren to the withering air. Whatever the future will be, the couple’s hearts will be together.
Live and die together.
