Day2 =4th Feb. fly to Medan (Sumatra Island of Indonesia), I guess this is the place no Taiwanese/Japans will go, I didn’t see any western people there.

Day3 =5th Feb. Orang Oetans in Bohorok,
Day4=6th Feb. Medan/Brastage-Samosir Island
Day5=7th Feb. Samosir

we visited the Orang Oetans area after we drove 2 hours in the mountain and there are only few places in the whole world can see Orang Oetans. So it was a very special experience for all of us. We walked about one hour in the jungle to see their nature living environment by took the very small Canon back to the normal village again. And we paid some money to the boys who follow us all the time in the jungle try to give us a hand when we are fell down in the jungle. We also visited Al-Mashun mosque and maimoon pales. And epically the traditional Batakdorp, fruit markets, Sipiso piso waterfall, and one special TOBA Lake (Volcano Lake) beautiful and biggggg.

We visited lot of plantage areas which I am not a big fan of it. But it still good to know how the cinnamon stick is come from the tree skin. I saw the coffee tree, cocoa tree, coconut tree (as a farmer need to choice to have a coconut or coconut brown sugar). Coconut needs to wait for few months but coconut brown sugar can claim to the tree to get it everyday.

And we visited other kinds of Batak village. (Indonesia has more then 1,000 islands and tribes. so you can see all kinds of different traditional Batak houses)
Here I will write some Chinese to my own people, so no English now sorry
The local guide honest shows us their past old tradition without any shame about it. One village is one small world.

Day4 =6th Feb. Medan-Barastagi-Samosir Island. We visited the maimoon Paleis, traditional Batak village, waterfall; we lunch in Parapat then took boat to Samosir Island.

Day5 = Today we take a trip in this small Samosir island see the traditional dancing and the other type traditional village. We drove back to Medan for tomorrow’s fly to JAVA.
To be honest, I have no idea that Indonesia is a poor & underdeveloped country. In the meantime. They use the entire Dutch build road, train track; nothing has been improved since Dutch let this country to allow them independent since 1945.
I don’t know how to describe my feeling saw all the garbage (burn all the garbage in front of your house), dirty black water all over the roads. Our local guide told us clearly that 5% population is Chinese but they own 75% property here. So to me and Peter that just like JEWS(猶太人) in Europe before Hiterler start to slaughter the whole Jewish people. Well I don’t say this is the main reason but this is one of the major reason for Suharto ( 蘇哈托) to kill half million of Chinese in 1988. Thanks God, lot of people is happy he is died now. So whole national has a new chance to walk to a new different modern Indonesia.

Now I start to understand why some of Javanese(even Government) hate Chinese at that time and now even most of rich Chinese still don’t want to say I am a Chinese in Indonesia (my colleague she is come from Jakarta and I asked her about what happened in 1988 before our trip. Then she told me that is the reason I don’t’ say I am a Chinese. She comes from a rich family and she got the education in Delft University in Holland).

Traffic:

I always thought Taipei’s taxi driver has the best driving skill to move as a snake and rush away from the traffic jam( I don’t say it is good). But here in Sumatra the driving way could let you get heart-attack. We find out our minivan are always only 1.5cm distance with other car(bus/mini van) for all the traffic situation in whole Indonisia and especially in Sumatra. But you will not see a traffic accident.

Sumatra people are still using the way which build by Dutch in 1860 till now and they didn’t maintemance after Dutch left this country.

All the holes in the road can be 30cm deeper. One example, one of the trip of 90KM road we need to drive in 3.5 hours and bumping(right/left+up/down) all the time. One of our menber told us the reason for we never see car accident in this country because people do not want to pay money to police. IF the traffic accident really happen then both sides would quickly move to other place to avoid police charge both of them to dismiss this case. So there is a serious police corruption situation in this country as same as other underdevelop counties.

Day6 = Samosir-Jakarta.
We visited some of the plant age area then take a fly from Medan to Singapore then from Singapore to Jakarta.
Halleluiah, finally leave Sumatra Island and move on to JAVA Island. Then we met there 10 people which fly from AMS to here. We will join them to start to a new group and trip for the rest of days.

Day7 = Jakarta - Bandung
We walked to a historical part of Jakarta to saw the old famous Dutch colony golden period. We saw those Governor Houses and Government office buildings. The old harbor (Sunda Kelapa) which builds by Dutch. They are still using it for the transport the goods from Indonesia to other Asia countries. The water and old ash inside of the iron barrel.
We saw the works living on boat (wood) and working more then 8 hours to earn about 5 euro per day (compare to massage lady 4.5 euro an hour).
They all living in a very bad condition boat when they have no work to do.
In the afternoon, we went to BANDUNG to have a shopping trip. This city is more clean and modern then Jakarta for all of us. I always look at the road and I see the road here is DRY and no dirty black water. We were surprised to see BANDUNG so clean like this. The local guide told us this is a Paradise for most of Indonesia people because house is beautiful and living area are better. No doubt for that.

So far, everywhere you go restaurants, gas-stations, and villages. All the W.C. is a room with a big hole beside it has a bucket (or a brick wall with tile) inside has a ladle for you to get the water to clean it after you use it. I feel disgusting but man may not feel it because men just stand it and don’t have to touch the ladle to get water from bucket to clean the WC.

countine........
