是我臨時亂掰的..

”Gees, what was going on with this poet? How could he write such a difficult and unrealizable poem?” John says in the classroom. Actually, at the beginning of this semester, I also have the same feeling of John’s. It’s totally boring for me. But after this semester, my mind has changed a little bit, the poetry it is not quite hard to understand, and it really interested me. Lots of students have the same problems to read a poem, because they don’t know how to analyze a poem, and enjoy the poem. If you want to understand a poem clearly, you must learn how to follow these rules to analyze a poem: Sound, form, and language.
Sound can not only increase the interest, but also express the voice or the feeling of the poets. A poem usually follows the rules of Rhyme and Rhythm. Rhyme means a poem in which the last word in the line has the same sound as the last word in another line, especially the next one. For example, ”trigger” and ”bigger” have the same sounds [ger]. The other rule of sound is Rhythm which means a strong regular repeated pattern of sounds. For instances,
1 The sky is full of sunshine (a)
  2 I don’t know why (a)
3 It really makes me shy (a)
4 But I am going to die (a)
5 Because I have nothing to drink (b)

If it has the same rhythm in different lines, we always use an English letter to mark it. Line one to line four have the same sound [i], so we use (a) to mark it, line five have another sound [k], we use another English letter (B) to mark it. Analyzing a poem’s sound is quite an interesting thing, try to learn how to analyze it, then it will have more fun when you reading a poem.
Second later, if you are going to analyze a poem, the next step is to find out the form. Form is divided to three groups: Open form, Close form, and free verse. The word ”Open” has so many meanings, spread out, not blocked; go through, and so on, so if a poem is in open form, it also means the poem doesn’t have any pattern of rules. Close form, the opposition of Open form, it has regular rules of Rhythm, Rhyme,*stanza. Free verse means, parts of the poem have the same rules, and the other parts of the poem don’t have any rules. Form is not so important to focus on when you are writing a poem, but if the poetry is written in a regular form, the readers can understand the poem easier and clearer.
Poets love to write their feeling in the poetry, but they usually hide their emotion behind the words, the ways which they use are Simile and Metaphor. Simile means a word or phrase that compare one thing to another thing else. For example, ”Her face is red as an apple.” It is easy to find out where the poet use simile and the meanings because they always use ”like” or ”as” in the sentences. The other way is more difficult to find out and hard to realize, it is Metaphor. Metaphor means a word or a phrased used to describe somebody or something else to make the description more strong. Here is a sentence, ”John really hope doves will fly above our country.” In this sentence, dove will fly above their country not really means that John wants doves come to their country, it metaphors that he hope their country will be peace, the peace will arrive their country. Simile and Metaphor are two main methods which poets always used to use in the poem, they also include the primary meaning which the poets want to express.
I don’t love to read the poem because it is so boring sometimes, if I don’t understand it, I probably do not want to read it again anymore. Analyzing the poetry is really a good method to help you interest in poetry. I really love the part of sound, if you know the rules, then you can read the poem loudly, that’s really fun. In the other hand, if you learned how to analyze a poem, it must be helpful for solving lots of poem quiz.
(Well, at least I solved a lot, haha. Consider that you work hard or not.)

*stanza: a group of lines in a repeated pattern that forma unit in some types of poem, usually is four lines.
