Arrival (teddy’s side of the story)

Waking up in the morning to the tune of constant barking from the neighbor’s dog, I quickly checked the clock and it showed 8:10 am. Even after having gone through the ”final round” of house cleaning and gone to sleep at around 3 in the morning, I did not feel a bit tired. I was excited. I could feel the blood pumping in my veins. I felt like a kid who anxiously waits for the lucky money from elders during Lunar New year. The feeling that you know something good is about to happen to you, but you just don’t know how good. I knew I was in a zone because even that often-annoying dog barking sounded sweet to me as if the dogs, too, have joined me in the excitement. This was a feeling I have not had in a long time. I could hear myself murmuring, **Honey is coming today**.

Raul, Chielo, and Ashley picked me up at the house at around 12:10pm. I knew the timing was fine because Raul and I have been quite good at estimating the time when picking people up at the airport. However, even though I knew I probably would not be late, I still felt like I had to be there early, just in case. I wanted to press on that gas pedal just every so slightly, but I was not the one who was driving. I just kept looking at time shown on my phone and saying to myself, **Honey will be here in a few minutes**.

After being dropped off at the curb, the kids and I rushed into the arrival lobby while Raul went look for parking. I quickly walked towards the arrival lobby downstairs. **Daddy Gary, you are so excited that you are walking so fast**, Ashley said to me. I turned to the side and saw Lynlyn and Roy were basically jogging alongside me, as my pace was much too much for them. Wow, my excitement was that obvious:-). **Sorry**, I said to the kids as I slowed down my pace. Yet, I could feel my heart was beating faster than ever. All of a sudden, Ashley pulled me on the arm and murmured **Daddy Gary, your nose hair is sticking out.** How embarrassing! Yet, I gathered myself and kept walking towards the lobby. Knowing honey needed her hot tea; we went to the shop and bought a cup of hot tea and some beautiful flowers picked by Ashley. As we walked back to the lobby area and waited, my eyes were fixated at the monitor, yet there was no sign of honey. After a few minutes, I turned my head to check where Raul and Chielo were, and as if fate dictated, at the first glance after I turned towards their direction, I saw the reason why I was there that day. I saw the reason why my heartbeat was racing. I saw the reason why I was in the zone. I saw an amazing woman. I saw honey. Sorry, honey. I wanted to greet you first hand as you were coming out from the arrival door, but I was not able to. After the brief greeting and hugging of everyone, we started walking towards the parking. Holding hand in hand and with a big smile I just could not hide, I said to myself, **Honey is finally here**

Knowing that honey wanted some rest, I wanted to go somewhere for lunch that is relaxing so that everybody could mingle and chat. We went to Amitri’s Pizzeria for lunch. It is one of the best East Coast style pizzerias here in the Bay Area. It has a friendly and family atmosphere. Lunch was great as everybody seemed to have enjoyed the pizza and had a good time in getting to know this beautiful, friendly, and special lady (or Mermaid, as Roy called her) with a lovely accent. The group photo was great. What was even more interesting was that even the youngest of us all, Hayden, seemed to like her a lot as well. Although we were having a good time, honey seemed to be tired from the long flight as well as the heat. It was time to go home and let honey get some rest! On the way home, Raul told her about the San Mateo bridge (9 miles long) which is probably one of the longest in the U.S., and pointed her towards the direction where San Francisco is. Chielo, honey, and the kids also chatted amongst themselves regarding Hayden, Sodoku, and others. With all the activities going on in the car, my only thought was, **Honey is coming home**.

It was about a 30 minutes drive from the pizzeria place to home. Although we were having a good time with Raul, Chile, and the kids, we had some shopping to do later that afternoon and honey had to get some rest first. After hanging out at the house for a while and the kids showed her whom she reminded them of from Disney Channel, we said farewell to them as they also had to head back to Sacramento area (the capital of California). With big hugs all around from Ashley, Chielo, and Raul,we bided goodbye. After seeing them off, honey and I had a big hug as we were finally alone!! As we looked into each other’s eyes and kissed, I said to myself, **Yes, honey is finally home**.

Welcome to the U.S.

Welcome to San Francisco Bay Area

Welcome home
