We continued our bike journey around the outer boundary of the Amsterdam airport. In about 20 days, we will be in this airport where we transit to Israel .
We bought our round-trip plane tickets from the United Kingdom to Israel on 8/11, the date when no visa requirement for Taiwanese to visit Israel went into effect. Since we have decided to make the trip, I am going to start my street shows in Europe . Heaven helps those who help themselves. Hopefully, we will be able to collect enough money to help with the expense for our trip.
How does it go? The answer will be revealed after we arrive in the UK.
We might just pose in front of it for a nice photo shoot.
Delft is well known for the Delft pottery ceramic products. In the heart of Delft , you can see blue pottery everywhere.
There are also wonderful gift shops on the street.
The Netherlands is indeed low lying. Water almost floods to half height of the basement.
Next morning, we arrived in downtown Rotterdam.
We did not stay long. After my street shows there, we headed to Kinderdijk.
How did we get to our destination?
We rode to Ridderkerk and took a ferry. One ticket cost 1.5 Euros; free for bicycles. It took about 5
minutes across the river.
The
windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best known Dutch tourist sites.
It has the most windmills - 19 of them. They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
Why is it named Kinderdijk? Centuries ago, there’s a big flood. A baby was found sleeping quiet and dry in a wooden cradle floating on the water. The name Kinderdijk is Dutch for "Children's dike". There’re several legends about this incident. This is one of them.
Let’s bike around the village.
The first section of the street is divided into two lanes: pedestrians and bicycles. You can rent a bike in the visitor center. If you don’t want to walk, you can also take a boat.
We had the advantage riding a bike –we were faster because most people were on foot.
Be a helpful passer-by to take pictures for other visitors touring such a famous spot.
Unexpectedly, sun came out to show his face after we left Kinderdijk, so we went back to take more photos.
As long as we captured some good shots, it’s worth returning to the same path.
Farewell, home of windmills. We will miss you.
