只是一些小小的、瑣碎的感想……。
雖然喜歡這裡的風土人情,但也同時想念台灣。:p
Dear all,
I’ve come to Hilo for 8 days. Hilo is a city located in Big Island which is an island of Hawaii and is 1/3 large size of Taiwan. I live in a hotel beside Hilo Bay, and the scenery of the balcony of this room is good.
Near this hotel, there is also a park founded in Japanese style named Liliuokalani Gardens Park. I would say that it is the most beautiful park I’ve ever seen. I think one of the reasons why it is so beautiful is the peace it has. Walking in this park, you’ll feel peaceful in your mind. When I traveled Kyoto 2 or 3 years ago, I saw many Japanese temples, gardens and palaces, but I couldn’t feel the beauty of them at that time. Yes, Japanese’s structures are not as grant and delicate as Chinese’s, but theirs are built under the standard of Zen, I think. That is to say, they would emphasize some kind flavor of Zen, which is very easy and peaceful. I appreciate it now, while walking around this park. It brings me peace, the thing I need.
Hilo is a rainy city. It rains and is cloudy often, and that’s the reason why our photos look not as good as I said above. Due to the rain, however, the air is clean all the time, and the weather here makes us comfortable.
People here make us comfortable, too. They are very friendly, no matter which race they face. I’ve met some nice people here, Hawaii. Prof. Cheng(鄭學禮) helps us a lot. A couple coming from Taiwan living in Honolulu invited Kent and me for a family dinner, and took us to do a field travel around the east of O’ahu. There’s one man, Steve, 44 years old, being on his way to do research in NCCU, my mother university, from the next semester. He gave us many good and important opinions for buying car. Molly, a girl grown up in Africa, been studied in California, told us much information about library using, cell phone applying, and clubs in campus, etc.. I’m much impressed by their kindness.
I’ve participated at a Bible class and worship in a Baptist Church near UHH (University of Hawai’i at Hilo) this morning. I met some Chinese people from Taiwan, and there are some friendly people here also. Anyway, I will continue this group. At least it would help me to improve my poor English. ^^
The above is just a part of what I have learned recently. There are more things I could share to you. Well, let me talk about them later. Btw, this is my first time writing such a long mail in English. If there is any mistake of English, pls forgive me and tell me. Tks! ^^
Cheers,
