Farewell My Dear Diamonds...

Hi There,
Welcome to Flight S2D to Grade 9.
This is your captain Alf speaking. The weather is rainy, the diamond passengers are all unwilling to depart from their good chums. However, DIAMOND, look ahead. There will always be a rainbow after a rain. Like I always like to tell my old students, SMILE AT THE STORM because, there is always a rainbow at the end of the last drop from heaven.
Thunder and lightning have happened the whole year round and we survived as a class together.
It has not been an easy year. I did not promise you that. Neither did I promise you just easy maths nor a laughing good time. What I had in mind before the year started was to help each one of you find an identity.
An identity so unique that only you all can have and own, one that no one else can take away from you.
What I have on hand was a lot of rough edges in you , the gems placed in my hands.
I have to smoothen the edges without hurting you, I have to polish each of you without you knowing.
How can i do it , how do I do it?
I certainly am not superman. I am not even the best teacher...
However, I have a spirit that no one can conquer.
No one else but me.
All of you are precious to me. All of you are talents to me, all of you are true gems to me.
I have uncovered you and your talents as the year unfold.
Whether it is serving in the class committee, doing maths projects, doing pbl projects, doing presentations, doing sports, doing community and service, doing competitions out of school, doing marketing, DJ-ing, publicity, selling, shouting out loudm busking etc for 5000 dreams, I have created numerous platforms for you all to do something for S2D.
D to me is Determination (never to give up even when the chips are down and when the failure sets in)
D to me is Desire (without desire, you cannot achieve, because you have no aim and no objectives)
D to me is Diligence ( i have never condone complacency and I never will, i have always told you to work hard and work smart and work consistent)
D to me is Distinction (because I demand only the best, when you did not give your best, you did not fail me but fail yourself, but you have hurt me)
D to me is Delivery (because all talk is no use, we have to deliver results, in our studies, in our projects, in our competitions, on our playing fields)
D is a special Alphabet, because D is also for Diamond!
Never before has grade 8 have a diamond class and I am glad to say that we have made the name DIAMOND worthy to be owned by us.
Diamond is the hardest rock in the whole planet, it is the rock used to cut other rock, it is the rock used to drill for oil, it is the rock adored by ladies and men of course around the world, it is the rock that royalty and everyone will want to own, it is the rock that will make people envy and open their mouths in awe as the rock shine and sparkle.
Therefore my dear diamonds, Go Forth, and Shine. All of you are special in your own ways. All of you are precious to me, but this is a time where we have to say good bye and I have to release you all to shine in your own right, shine in the places where you will be going next.
We will all miss one another for sure, but we have made a promise to each other to return with the piece of banner that I had cut up for each one of you, sometime later.
The reunion will be sweet. You have to cherish one another and you have to take care of the banner piece and DVD. These cannot be bought by all the wealth in the world because there is only one S2D 07-08 in the whole wide world.
