Youth Charter
Principles and ideas on Youth Development
1. That youth should be respected; they deserve love, care in the community and family, sound physical and mental health, shelter, food, education, work, culture, and recreation;
2. That youth should be encouraged to grow and develop in the spirit of freedom, democracy, dignity, tolerance solidarity and peace;
3. That youth should be provided with care and assistance in accordance with their physical and mental maturity;
4. That youth should be given every opportunity to broaden their outlook on life;
5. That youth should be fully prepared to meet the challenges of future changes in society;
6. That youth should be encouraged to contribute towards, participate in and accept responsibility for the development of society; in particular, youth should be afforded the opportunity to participate in decisions which affect their lives;
7. That the individuality of each youth should be respected;
8. That the family, as the primary care-giver for youth, should be afforded the necessary protection and assistance for the fulfillment of such role
9. That obligations arising from international conventions and agreements as applied to Hong Kong which concern youth should be fully implemented; and
10. That subscribers should work together to realize as far as possible the spirit of this Charter.
