[Remission]
Remission is the state of absence of disease/disorder activity or disappearance of the signs and symptoms in patients known to have a chronic illness that cannot be cured. It is commonly used to refer to absence of disease/disorder those are expected to manifest again in the future.
A remission can be temporary or permanent: A partial remission may be defined for disease/disorder as 50% or greater reduction or improvement on physical examination or psychological assessment(each disease/disorder can have its own definition of a partial remission); a complete remission is defined as complete disappearance of all such manifestations of disease/disorder.

[Recovery]
Recovery is a restoration of health or functioning, whether a person who has been cured or not. Each disease/disorder can have its own definition of a partial remission, but there is no widely accepted definition of recovery: the duration of remission required.

[Relapse]
The return of signs and symptoms of a disease after a patient has enjoyed a remission. Symptoms of a disease/disorder recur after a period of improvement.

[Recurrence]
The return of a sign symptom or disease after a recovery or a patient has enjoyed some weeks or months of remission.
