One day in summer my girl friend and me we went to Tainan. You could easily get attention to this small red house in An-ping Old Street. It’s peaceful and quite and unlike other stores there, it’s full of pottery. They were put on the entry, on the wall, and on the floor. The store name is Guai A Tau. There were some beautiful handcrafts in and you felt the traditional spirit. The air conditioner made the little place cooler. The shop girl just told me that they get this machine far away from Taipei and they just started their business since last Chinese New Year. They were three grade school students and they rent this place and hope that they would put some arts and exhibit for sell. There were some words put in big letter that “Please do not bargain, we all sell in proper price.” Wei-wei (the shop girl) said that some customers like to bargain the price, they want their handmade be attractive to people but they still want to educate people that all art need a certain quality of time and work to be done, and they need to know the real “price” of arts. She showed me some interesting arts, as an ashtray is hold by a little man. It looks like it’s so heavy that he can not bear. There was also a tea cup but a small man sit right in the cup, if you pour water into the cup; it looks like that little man is bathing in a hot spring.

We got there very late that day and when we leave the shop she introduced us to the An-ping Tree House. Wei-wei let me see her latest poetry book, and it also handmade. I couldn’t take any of them home because pottery was fragile; I couldn’t take it all the way back home “perfectly”, but I got something much more heavily—the care ness from a person that you never met before but you just know it.
