Some Pleasant Reminders

”Awake, O north wind,
and come, O south wind!
Blow upon my garden
that its fragrance may be wafted abroad.”

The bitter cold winds from the north
and the scorching winds from the south
helps us grow.

”Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked shall I return there;
the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away;
blessed be the name of the LORD.”

”Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance.
You have heard of the endurance of Job,
and you have seen the purpose of the Lord,
how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.”

The fragrance of Job’s perseverance is
still wafting today.

Disasters can be a blessing as well.
If Job did not encounter his suffering,
he would have never been able to
directly speak with God.
He would not have received
a double of his posessions.
If it is not the Lord’s will,
nothing can harm us.

There are patterns in faith that we can learn from.
Learning from moments of Abraham’s weakness
and avoid them:

Waiting for the promise of God
instead of taking matters into our own hands.
Living near the border of sin
(between Kadesh and Shur).
Don’t be like Laodicea.

Learning from the Spirit of the Cross:

Enduring hardship and suffering
because Christ suffered so much more
for our sake.
Forgiving others.
We need to love our own to the end
and not hold grudges.
Praying with sweat and tears to God
in times of destitution
until we can learn to accept God’s will.
Then God will send angels to strengthen us.

Lord Jesus comforts us.
He reached out
and touched the open coffin in Nain.

We need to have a heart of joy and reliance (upon God).

It is a joyful thing to believe in Christ.

If you think too much, you leave no room for God to work.

A hot coal grows cold when it is away from the fire.

To live is Christ, to die is gain.
